On October 10, 2025, Donald Trump announced a ceasefire deal for the Gaza Strip—a moment that promised rebuilding, return, hope.
Survivors emerged from shelters, clutching memories of lost homes, lost neighbours, lost childhoods. They stepped into a landscape of ruin: homes collapsed, streets unrecognisable, water scarce, food almost a luxury.
In the last 700+ days in Gaza:
- More than 60,000 people in the Gaza Strip were killed during the course of the genocide.
- Over 18,000 children lost their lives in Gaza since the conflict started.
- Up to 40,000 children had become orphans (having lost one or both parents) across Gaza.
- The health-system was shattered: only 7 or 8 out of 36 hospitals remained partially operational at one point.
Right now:
- 1.95 million people in Gaza — 91% of the population — are facing acute food insecurity classified as IPC Phase 3 (Crisis) or worse.
- 876,000 are experiencing emergency levels (IPC Phase 4)
- 345,000 individuals are classified at catastrophic levels (IPC Phase 5)
All of this means… the people of Gaza need urgent humanitarian aid right now. Not tomorrow, not next week, but now. The ceasefire did not reset their lives, it simply provided a fragile window. Without massive support, that window closes.
